A Safe Space for Dialogue and Learning with the Participation of Jivara Al-Budayri
In Nablus, over the course of two days, twenty journalists—men and women—from Jenin, Tulkarm, and Nablus came together, overcoming checkpoints and obstacles, to create a safe space for dialogue and shared experience.
The gathering was an opportunity for journalists to exchange their stories, experiences, and emotions in a reality where targeting and danger are daily occurrences. A unique moment that added special value to the workshop was the presence of the esteemed colleague Jivara Al-Budayri, who shared her extensive experience and years of memory from the field. Her words carried warmth and encouragement, as well as an honest discussion about the meaning of resilience and resistance in the darkest of times.
The importance of the workshop was not only in what was said, but in what was felt: that we are not alone. In this safe space, we listened to voices that rarely reach the screens—stories of fear and exhaustion, but also of the determination to carry on, no matter the challenges.
And because protection does not end with words, the meeting also included practical first aid training in collaboration with the Palestinian Red Crescent – Nablus branch, in partnership with the Palestine Journalism Hub Workshop, equipping journalists with tools to help safeguard themselves while working in the field.
“This gathering was filled with passion, strength, and a firm resolve to keep the truth alive—no matter the cost.”
