Ramallah – Journalist Laila Batris published an in-depth report titled “Palestinians in Israeli Universities: Studying Under Pressure” on Al-Jarmaq.
The report examines the experiences of Palestinian students at Israeli universities and the challenges they face in expressing their national identity, particularly since the outbreak of the war on Gaza in late 2023. Drawing on testimonies from Palestinian students at several universities, as well as legal and academic data and documentation, the report highlights disciplinary measures, restrictions on expression, and scrutiny related to students’ social media posts and political views, and how these practices affect their sense of safety and freedom of expression on campus.
The report is one of the outputs of the Strengthening Independent Journalism and Media Networking in Palestine initiative initiative, launched by the Palestine Journalism Hub with the support of the European Endowment for Democracy (EED). The initiative aims to enable journalists to produce high-quality professional content and strengthen collaboration with media organizations, helping expand publication opportunities and reach wider audiences, while supporting joint publication and building effective media networks that strengthen the presence and impact of independent journalism in Palestinian society.
