Masafer Yatta – Journalist Mosaab Shawar documents in his report, “Fahd Al-Hathaleen: A Goalkeeper Guarding His Dream Behind Closed Roads,” the story of 17-year-old Fahd Al-Hathaleen from Umm Al-Khair and his efforts to hold on to his education and his dream of becoming a goalkeeper, amid road closures, attacks and harassment by Israeli settlers, and the threat of demolition facing the community’s football field.
The story is one of the outputs of the Independent Journalism Fellowship 2026, implemented by the Palestine Journalism Hub (PJH), with the participation of 20 journalists from across the West Bank.
The fellowship combines training, individual mentoring, and support for the production of independent journalistic stories that address community issues and provide greater space for people’s voices and experiences.
