Jerusalem – Journalist Hala Al-Zuhairi explores the experience of the “Al-Balad School” initiative in Jerusalem, which combines education with psychological and social support for children.
Through the stories of children and families in Silwan, the report documents how education can become a space for expression and recovery, while strengthening children’s connection to their identity and surroundings.
The story is one of the outputs of the Independent Journalism Fellowship 2026, implemented by the Palestine Journalism Hub (PJH), with the participation of 20 journalists from across the West Bank.
The fellowship combines training, individual mentoring, and support for the production of independent journalistic stories rooted in community issues and providing greater space for people’s voices and experiences.
