Ramallah – Palestinian journalist Ghalia Abu Al-Haija has published an investigative report titled “Blood Algorithms: Does TikTok Contribute to the Normalization of Crime?”
Published on Mirsal, the investigation draws on real-life cases and experiences to examine the relationship between the spread of content related to violence and crime within Palestinian society in the 1948 territories on TikTok and the normalization of images and symbols associated with crime and their repercussions, particularly among Palestinian youth.
The investigation is one of the outputs of the “Strengthening Independent Journalism and Media Networking in Palestine” initiative, launched by the Palestine Journalism Hub with the support of the European Endowment for Democracy (EED). The initiative aims to enable journalists to produce high-quality professional content and strengthen collaboration with media organizations, helping expand publication opportunities and reach wider audiences, while supporting joint publication and building effective media networks that strengthen the presence and impact of independent journalism in Palestinian society.
